AtmosFears

Thank you for purchasing AtmosFears. We hope you enjoy this product, and appreciate any feedback you may have.

This pack is intended for use with Poser8 and newer, though we would recommend Poser9 and newer for best results.

For the purposes of this guide, we'll be using PoserPro 2014, but there is nothing we'll be doing that can't be done in Poser 8 and above.  And initially, pretty much everything is in default, except Render settings.

O
nce you've installed the product, your new AtmosFears items will be in:
Runtime:Libraries:Materials:! TerraDome2:AtmosFears

So to begin with, we want to load TerraDome2, and get some materials on it. We also want to make some adjustments to our Main Camera, as detailed in the TerraDome2 User Guide pdf. We're going to use a focal length of 30mm for a nice wide field of view, and we're going to set the yon value to 3000, to stop anything disappearing out the back of shot.

We've also set our Document Window Size to 960x540. We find this size to give nice renders for TerraDome2 and landscape images.

We've loaded a selection of the available morphs, and created some terrain as shown in image 1 below.

Now that we have a scene set up, we want to see what atmospheres look like in this particular scene.

*IMPORTANT*
Results WILL vary depending on certain factors. These include but may not be limited to: Window aspect ratio, Camera position/setup, Applied morphs and Lights. These are factors that we KNOW will make results vary, however there may be others which we haven't come across yet.
A good example of what we mean can be seen with some of the atmospheres included in the TerraDome2 base pack. Some of the very low fogs can disappear entirely if the terrain is big and lumpy.

So let's get to applying ourselves an atmosphere for this scene. We need to go to our Materials tab, and select the atmosphere as shown in image2 below.

Image2: Select the Atmosphere in the Material Room

If we go to our Library, Under Materials: ! TerraDome2:Atmospheres:AtmosFears we have all our new atmospheres to choose from. First off, we're going to use DriftingFog3-Left, as we can see in image3 below. Either double click the thumb, or click the single tick symbol.

Image3: Select and apply an AtmosFear

If we switch back to our Pose room, we won't see any difference in our scene in preview, so we'll put a quick render on and see how our DriftingFog3 looks, which we can see in image4 below.

Image4: DriftingFog3 rendered

Now, if we compare the render to the thumbnail in image3, they don't look the same. This is what we meant when we said earlier that results WILL vary. Some of the factors that have contributed here are; firstly, the aspect ratio. The thumb was, of necessity, rendered in a square aspect, while our image is in a landscape aspect. On the thumbs, we used a very dark, plain sky to better show the fogs. In our rendered image, we've used quite a pale sky, making the fog less noticeable where it's just in front of the sky rather than terrain. And the morphs between the thumb and the image above are different. The camera is in a different position between the thumb and the rendered image, and the light is a little different, both in intensity and direction.

In image5 below, we've changed the sky material, and changed some of the morphs. And now it looks slightly different still.....for example the mist no longer comes as far forward as it did.

Once again, RESULTS WILL VARY. Because every scene is different, the AtmosFear that renders will never look exactly the same as the library thumb.  Try different AtmnosFears and see which suits that particular scene best.

We hope you enjoy using this product and we look forward to seeing what images you make with it.

Happy Rendering
